Hiring a Travel Agent

Mostly all of the travel industry pays fees to someone for your business. Let’s say you book a cruise with a cruise line and you think you are saving money because you are cutting out the travel agent. That is not always the case.  A travel agent can contact the supplier and a lot of times find you cheaper rates, because they can get cheaper rates. There are also times when the agent has access to group share rates.  The agency can also purchase a block space and then offer cabins at a much-discounted rate because the agency owns the cabins.  You say well I have got to pay the travel agent, not so. Instead of the cruise line paying their agent that works for them, the cruise line pays an independent travel agent that WORKS for YOU, to get you the best deals, and they represent you and your interest.

They also save you a lot of time, you tell your independent travel agent what you are looking for, they do all the leg work, it takes hours calling cruise lines, hotels, etc. to get what you are looking for. Then they contact you back to see if you like what they have come up with.  When you agree to an itinerary, they process it for you, which means they call the suppliers back and book it for you with your approval.

We see so many people looking for a really cheap deal, and they do not even see it when it is presented to them. They may book a round trip flight for more than a 7-day cruise, per person. That includes, in addition to a wonderful, relaxing cruise:  a room for seven nights, three meals, plus the buffet bar, and other food available 24 hours a day, entertainment, sailing to exotic ports, night clubs, casinos, swimming pools, slides for the younger ones – and young at heart, rock climbing walls, and more, depending on the cruise ship.

All the major airlines do not pay travel agents commission, so if you are booking your flights with that independent travel agent, it could be free for you even if they spend their time doing the research and the booking for you.

So, if you really want to do yourself a favor, use an independent travel agent - and be kind, they are working for you.
